The Faculty strongly supports research and teaching in all areas related to computing and communications through the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS). With over 70 researchers and over 750 graduate students working in many laboratories and groups, the School of EECS offers a dynamic environment of collaboration and practical impact with its industry partners. Opportunities for joint research exist at all levels, from government funded research with industry partners to contract research for specific industry needs to graduate student internships as well as COOP students and projects. EECS presents you with its expertise in the areas of:
- Broadband and wireless networks;
- Artificial intelligence and big data management;
- 5G / 6G;
- Speech, audio, image and video processing.
The Faculty of Engineering offers continuing education courses through its Professional Development Institute that has just launched the first Engineering Sales School in Canada and offers courses on advanced topics like cybersecurity. A professional Online Masters in Engineering Management program has just been launched. It is designed so your employees can take it on a part-time basis to upgrade their credentials as they mature in their professions.
In support of entrepreneurship, the Faculty of Engineering hosts a world-class Center for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design. The STEM Complex hosts state-of-the-art design and prototyping facilities, such as the Richard L’Abbé Makerspace which is open to students of all faculties and even to the community. An alumni-funded incubator called MakerLaunch provides student and recent alumni entrepreneurs with the support necessary to fast track the commercialization of technologies and launch new tech startups.
